Rhinelanders in the news: Bonita Springs
At the first 2017 Bundeschampionat Qualifer, held in Hamburg, Germany, the Rhinelander mare Bonita Springs (Boston/Fidertanz) won the five-year-old division with an overall score of 8.1, under rider Kira Wulferding.
Competition success is familiar territory for the dark liver chestnut mare and her breeder and owner, Ulla Katzorke-Hellweg. In 2015, Bonita Spring captured the coveted title of Champion Dressage Mare at the renowned Herwart v. d. Decken show, also referred to as the Hanoverian Elite Mare Show, held in Verden, Germany. Bonita Springs’ triumph at the 2015 championship was especially gratifying for Rhineland breeders, since that show represented the first time that the Rhineland regional breeding district had been able to nominate mares for the Verden championship under the new management agreement between the Hannoveraner and Rhineland Verbands.
At the conclusion of the 2015 Elite Mare Show, judge Theo Lohmann, noted that he was looking forward to seeing some of the outstanding mares presented that day in sport in the future. With her outstanding results at the recent Bundeschampionat Qualifier, Bonita Springs is fulfilling Herr Lohmann’s wishes in stellar fashion.
